Profile of Pieter Crow

I grew up in Groton, Massachusetts with a love for the outdoors, especially hiking and mountain climbing. In 1968 at the age of 16 I explored the Wind River mountains of Wyoming as a student at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). My group was privileged to spend a month under the tutelage of mountaineer and educator Paul Petzoldt. After that I felt prepared to lead my own trips, including expeditions to the Andes of Colombia and Venezuela. Later I returned to Wyoming as an instructor at NOLS. Since 1992 I am a computer systems analyst at Central Wyoming College in Riverton. My spiritual heritage includes being raised in the Unitarian-Universalist Church and attending the George School near Philadelphia, a high school run by Quakers. As an adult I converted to a biblical faith that acknowledges Jesus as Messiah, Redeemer, and Friend.
